I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I've been practicing psychotherapy since 2002 when I completed my graduate training at New York University. In addition to private practice, I have many years of experience working with culturally diverse adults, adolescents and children, couples and groups, in community psychotherapy clinics.
I feel strongly that my work requires an ongoing commitment to lifelong learning, training and self-exploration. To this end I've completed six years of post-graduate training in Object Relations psychoanalysis at the Object Relations Institute. In addition to the psychoanalytic approach, I've also had extensive training in Gestalt psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioral techniques. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology with a minor in women's studies, concentrating in race, class, sex and gender. I'm currently on the faculty of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in NYC where I teach in both the Trauma Study Division and the Gay/Lesbian Affirmative Psychotherapy program.
I'm certified in the treatment of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse by New York University's Institute Against Violence and have a violence prevention certificate from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. I'm also trained in EMDR (levels I & II).
Before moving to New York in 2000, I worked in New Jersey in the field of mental health and addictions with some of New Jersey's neediest folks.
